Women's Spirituality Gathering
We will meet the first Thursday of the month.
Next meeting will be March 2, 2023.
Meditation will be from 7:15 to 7:30pm, then we have our spiritual gathering/discussion until 8:30pm. Suggestions for topics are welcome. Please enter quietly. We will sit “distantly” from each other, and we will be flexible regarding Covid concerns. All Eliot women, whether current or former members are welcome. New friends are welcome too! Please join us, it will be so wonderful to meet in person again!
As March is National READING month I’ve chosen this as the topic. This is what I found on the Internet:
"In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday, March is designated as National Reading Month - a month to motivate Americans of all ages to read every day. Reading is fun and has many benefits, regardless of your age. It's a key component of education and professional development."
Come together to share something special about how you read, what genre you read and why, when you read, where your read (books on CD while exercising or driving – pain in the ass for me with my new EV car without a CD player – I’d love a work-around suggestion that’s less kludgy than mine), and/or with whom you read (book groups versus solo versus reading to grandkids or others). How / do you use the MinuteMan library? Do you keep a reading diary? (I’ve always wanted to, and I’ve failed five times.) Do you use Libby for movies? Do you have frustrations with “Life” crowding out your preferred reading time? Do you have 2-3 favorite books to share with the group? (Bring a pad & pen to write down suggestions.) We can share and learn from each other.
I’m willing to set up a Zoom link for anyone who can’t attend in person, given the nature of this month’s discussion – less spiritual /personal and more information sharing. If anyone is out there who wants this, please let me know by contacting only me.
AND, in honor of this topic, each of you in person will be given the chance to pick at least one from about 20 books I will be bringing that I’m ready to pass on. You are highly encouraged to go home with at least one book for yourself and/or a friend. (For good friends my goal is to I pass along a gently used book as a birthday present.) Part of my NO LANDFILL moral agenda. Libraries and book donation locations sometimes reject and toss donations. They only have so much room.
HAPPY READING! - Betsy
