Renting Space at Eliot

Eliot Church of Newton’s beautiful church building is where we minister to ourselves as a spiritual family, and through which we find an important expression for our Christian outreach.  By sharing our facilities with our neighbors and making it a place where the needs, hopes, and joys of a larger community can be felt, we express our religious commitment to the world and the people around us. Eliot Church has been a vital member of the Newton community since 1845. We are an active family-oriented church with approximately 60 members. We are part of the United Church of Christ denomination. We are located at 474 Centre Street in Newton, within two blocks from Exit 17 off the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90). Our building is wheelchair accessible and has an elevator connecting the upper and lower levels. There is one wheelchair-accessible restroom on the upper level. Rooms available for rental use include the Sanctuary, a multi-purpose Chapel, a Parlor, and Fellowship Hall.

All spaces are wheelchair-accessible. The church has 12 large round tables and 120 folding chairs. 

We do require proof of liability insurance for any rental.

Sanctuary

Sanctuary: Our place of worship seats about 400 people and is equipped with a loudspeaker  system, a Mason and Hamlin grand piano, and a tracker action Bozeman organ. The Sanctuary is available for weddings and musical performances.

Rental Rate:

• Hourly rate for Sanctuary rehearsal is $95 an hour.
• $160 for a three-hour block rehearsal. Each additional hour: $95.

Concert Rate:
$200/dress rehearsal, up to three (3) hours in length. Each additional hour: $95.
$400/concert, up to four (4) hours in length. Each additional hour: $95.
$600/one dress rehearsal and one concert which fall within time limits described above.

Sexton services, normal ................$20/hour, paid directly to sexton

Parlor

Parlor: The parlor can seat 49 people in chairs or 30 at tables. There is a small kitchenette adjoining, with a sink, microwave, small stove, under-counter refrigerator, and coffeemaker.  It is on the upper level.

Chapel

Chapel: The chapel is an open space, can seat 75 persons in chairs or 40 people at round tables. It has a small grand piano and a PA system.  It is on the upper level.

Rehearsal Rate

• Hourly rate for Chapel rehearsal is $60 an hour.
• $120 for a three-hour block rehearsal. Each additional hour: $60.

Concert Rate

• $140/dress rehearsal up to three (3) hours in length. Each additional hour: $60.
• $200/concert up to four (4) hours in length. Each additional hour: $60.
• ​$340/one dress rehearsal and one concert which fall within time limits described above.

Sexton services, normal.............$20/hour, paid directly to sexton

Fellowship Hall

Fellowship Hall: The Hall can accommodate 106 persons at tables, or 227 in chairs, 319 standing, and offers an adjoining full-service kitchen.

Fellowship Hall Lounge: The Lounge is connected to Fellowship Hall by a set of double doors. It can seat 30 people in chairs.

Fellowship Hall and Lounge are on the church's lower level.

• Hourly rate for Fellowship Hall is $130 an hour.
• $200 for a three-hour block event. Each additional hour: $60.
