Women's Spirituality Gathering : Adulthood
Thursday, February 21
The Women's Spirituality Gathering, guided by Terry Hackford, meets in the Parlor on the third Thursday of every month. The next meeting will be on Thursday, February 21st. Around 7:15 PM we start with ten minutes or so of silent meditation to music--for anyone who would like some quiet time. From 7:30 on we explore a different theme each month. Time is also set aside for sharing concerns and celebrations in our lives. We close with prayers by 8:30 PM. This is not a formal group, but a drop-in gathering open to all women of Eliot, past and present.
On February 21 we will continue with the third of our "four stages of life" conversations. Our theme will be Adulthood--loosely defined as the period from one's mid-twenties to mid-sixties.These are such full decades! Often we spend them swept up in multi-tasking: seeking work, and developing careers; raising children, and letting go of children; caretaking our elders, friends and family; finding ways to contribute in the world. Shouldering great responsibility. This time of life has remarkable pleasures, and daunting challenges. Do you recall moments when you felt you had become an adult? Did anyone prepare you for adulthood, or guide you in its midst? What insight might you share now with younger women?
"This goes along with another belief of mine: that everyone else my age is an adult, whereas I am merely in disguise." Margaret Atwood
