The Spiritual Life of Eliot Church

The spiritual life of Eliot Church members is expressed and enhanced in a wide variety of ways. In addition to Sunday morning worship, prayer and preaching, we hold adult Bible Studies, theological and spiritual discussion forums, mission and ministry forums, small group ministries, Healing services, special seasonal mid-week worship, Christian service projects, Care Team ministries to the sick and homebound, nursing home services, church-wide retreats, women's retreats, and youth retreats.

Prayer Circle In Times of Illness Counseling Small Groups

Prayer Circle

Every Sunday morning, we invite the congregation to verbally lift their concerns and celebrations in prayer, so all of us can pray for them together. Those who choose can become part of an ongoing Prayer Circle. The Sunday prayer requests, and other requests made during week, are sent to prayer circle members by letter or email, so that they can pray continually for those concerns.

In Times of Illness

Hospital and home visits, counseling and the prayers of the church are offered to all who wish them. Ministry to the sick and to their families is a significant resource in difficult times. Please call the church office to let us know when there is a need.

Counseling

Our pastors are available for counseling on personal, family, and spiritual matters, and in times of crisis. Arrangements may be made for pastoral counseling by calling the church office.

Small Groups

At Eliot, small group gatherings are important! We have regular opportunities to participate in small group conversations, and frequently short term groups form around a topic of interest, a book study, or Bible exploration.

Our ongoing small groups are:

Sacred Conversations
Thursdays, 5:00 Pastor's Office
This small group is open to any and everyone! Each week, we take a topic, and consider it from a biblical and literary point of view. Past topics have included "Risk", "Goddess", "Dying", "Faith", among others. There is always time for checking-in, and prayer.

Women's Spirituality Gathering
Open to all Eliot women and their friends. Meeting twice monthly, this group begins with meditation and silence at 7:15 pm. At 7:30, the group begins with a reflection, with conversation that follows, with prayer, and a reading. Often there is sharing, and sometimes a topic is presented for discussion. It is a refreshing and calming time, treasured by many women at Eliot.
