Adult Choirs
|
Is a non-auditioned ensemble of singers from teens to adults who provide choral music for weekly Sunday services as well as special services from September to early June. This choir sings a wide range of repertoire from standard classical anthems to spirituals to hymn arrangements to plainchant. The Chancel Choir is supported by three professional section leaders, and is directed by our Minister of Music, Maury A. Castro.
Rehearsals Are on Thursdays from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Chapel and Sundays at 9 a.m. in the Sanctuary.

The Festival Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble of singers who are invited to join the Chancel Choir for special music services at Christmas and Easter. Usually large standard choral works are chosen for these events. The Festival Choir is supported by three professional section leaders and is directed by our Minister of Music, Maury A. Castro.
Rehearsals Are on Thursdays seasonally from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. in the Chapel.

Jim Jordan, bass Mr. Jordan hails from Lincoln, Nebraska where he earned his Bachelors Degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Music Education. Upon graduation, he moved to Boston to attend The Boston Conservatory where he earned his Masters Degree in Opera Performance. By day, he works for Boston Properties, one of the largest owners, managers and developers of first-class office properties in the United States. By night, he is a very active actor and singer in the Boston theater scene. Jordan resides in Newton with his wife, Jennifer Condon.

Matthew Wright, tenor Mr. Wright is a Native of Maryland. There, he attended the Peabody Conservatory, Baltimore, and studied classical guitar with Ray Chester and lute with Mark Cudek. Upon moving to Cambridge in 1999, Matt began concentrating on the lute, studying with Douglas Freundlich at The Longy School of Music, subsequently receiving a MMus in Early Music. Wright has performed solo lute and continuo for various ensembles and soloists. He is a founding member of Seven Times Salt, a consort specializing in 16th and 17th century English music. Other performances with Renaissonics, Amherst Early Music, The Vox Consort, Boston Secession, NEC Opera Theatre, and Ensemble Al Verso. Wright has also appeared on WGBH, Allston Free Radio, and Emerson Radio. A teacher of guitar, Wright currently has students at Indian Hill Music School, Littleton and has a studio at Riverside Theatre Works in Hyde Park. |
